The Artist & Founder
Hi, I’m Kendrick — founder and designer behind Lapis Cove.
By day, I work in the game industry as an environment concept artist, designing virtual worlds, props, and creating story-oriented pieces.
Since I mainly work from home, I’ve always wanted to fill my workspace, the desk where I spend most of my time, with objects I personally use that add genuine value to the space.

How it all started
Lapis Cove emerged from a desire to bring that digital imagination into physical spaces—translating virtual concepts into functional, tactile objects.
Coming from a digital art background, I found 3D printing to be a natural progression and medium, allowing me to design digitally and bring it directly into physical reality.
Meaning Behind the Name
I chose the name Lapis Cove to reflect both how these pieces are made and how they're meant to feel.
Lapis carries a double meaning—it’s the Malay word for "layer" (a nod to the 3D-printing process that builds each object line by line) and Latin for stone or gem (lapis lazuli). Cove represents a sheltered, quiet, cozy space.
My design philosophy is straightforward: I want to create simple, functional objects inspired by Japandi warmth and Scandinavian minimalism—pieces designed to make your everyday desk or room feel just a little more intentional.
Studio Prototyping & Iterations
What began as early desktop accessory explorations quickly evolved into a dedicated focus on ambient lighting.
Creating these pieces involves months of trial and error—testing filaments, refining, and adjusting, going through numerous iterations before getting the lamp right.
Made to Order
3D printing allows me to build with precision and zero overproduction.
Every piece is made to order. It takes a bit longer, but nothing goes to waste, and each piece gets the attention it deserves before it goes out.
The Ansa Lantern
After months of R&D and physical prototyping, the Ansa Lantern became our flagship release.
Inspired by the utilitarian form of kettlebells and water tumblers, Ansa was designed with an integrated handle. It is engineered to be instinctively portable, transitioning seamlessly from a quiet desk accent to any corner of the room.
